Inside steel pipes, water molecules do not exist only as individual units; they form aggregates known as water clusters, often described as groups of 64 or more molecules. Within these large clusters, hydrated electrons are confined. Because they remain trapped inside the cluster, they cannot reach the pipe surface to act on rust.

Electromagnetic Wave

Pipetector contains ceramics made from 12 rare metals, which emit a weak, specific electromagnetic wave. Certified safe by the Chemicals Evaluation and Research Institute, Japan (CERI), this wave is harmless to people and devices, yet acts on water clusters to release hydrated electrons that prevent corrosion.

When Pipetector’s wave breaks down large water clusters, hydrated electrons are released to the pipe surface. These electrons act on red rust (Fe³⁺) and reduce part of it to Fe²⁺. As a result, unstable red rust is transformed into black rust (Fe₃O₄, magnetite). Black rust forms a dense, stable layer that stops further corrosion and protects steel pipes for decades.

Formula

The conversion of red rust to black rust is supported by chemical reaction formulas. In this process, free electrons supplied by Pipetector reduce unstable red rust compounds, reorganizing them into stable black rust (Fe₃O₄, magnetite). Displayed to the right, the reaction demonstrates how red rust is chemically transformed into black rust while maintaining atomic balance.
