OVER 4400 Installations Worldwide

Pipetector device available in Canada for pipe corrosion prevention

Across the U.S. and Canada, aging water pipes break about 260,000 times a year , costing over $2.6 billion annually and a projected $452 billion long-term (ASCE, 2024). Pipetector® offers a proven way to reduce these costs. With more than 4,400 installations worldwide, including Buckingham Palace and the British Museum, Pipetector is trusted in hospitals, hotels, banks, and public buildings to stop internal pipe corrosion and extend service life without power, chemicals, or maintenance.

Proven Effectiveness

Pipetector isn’t just theory. It’s backed by real-world data from hospitals, hotels, schools, and government buildings around the world. When installed, Pipetector stops corrosion from progressing and transforms existing red rust into stable black rust (Fe₃O₄). The result is clear: iron levels in water samples are dramatically reduced, showing that internal corrosion is being halted.

HARRODS

Harrods faced serious corrosion issues in its 25–30-year-old galvanized steel domestic hot water pipes, which had led to clogs, red and brown water discoloration, and reduced reliability. To address this, a Pipetector PT-150DS was installed on a 6-inch hot water header pipe connected to the building’s plate heat exchangers. Remarkably, within just 39 days, the iron-ion content in the circulating water was greatly reduced. The formation of new corrosion (FeO(OH)) was halted, and the existing red rust was transformed into stable black rust (magnetite, Fe₃O₄), effectively protecting the pipes and extending their service life.

Pipetector VS Pipe replacement costs

Replacing aging or corroded water pipes can be extremely costly. The expense is not only for the pipes themselves but also for demolition, installation, permits, and restoration.
In Canada and other developed markets, replacement often costs tens to hundreds of dollars per meter. For large or complex facilities, total project costs can rise dramatically.
Pipetector offers a far less expensive option. In many cases, it reduces costs to one-fifth or even one-fifteenth of full pipe replacement. At the Royal Garden Hotel in London, the cost was reduced to just one sixty-fifth to one seventieth of the projected replacement.
